The origin of Venice is not documented in history. Several historian cited credible evidence that: the early population was refugees from Roman cities. They came from Padua , Ekuilaiya , Altino and Concordia (now Gelueluo Port )  in order to escape the Germanic attack.  ……………………………

During the 9th-12th century, Venice developed into a city-state (Italian empire or maritime republic; the remaining three were Genoa, Pisa and Amalfi). The strategic position at the top of the Adriatic Sea makes Venice's naval and commercial power almost unbreakable. The city became a prosperous trading center between Western Europe and other regions (especially the Byzantine Empire and Islamic countries).  …………………………………………………………………………………………………

Venice declined from the 15th century, when it defended Thessaloniki for the first time and lost to the Ottoman Turkish Empire. In 1453, Venice sent ships to help Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire, to resist the invasion of the Turks. After Mohammed II captured Constantinople, he turned to invade Venice and caused huge losses in Venice.  ……………………………

With Napoleon's occupation of Venice on May 12, 1797 (during the first anti-French alliance), the Republic of Venice declared its demise, exactly 1100 years after independence. This French conqueror led to the end of the most beautiful century in the history of Venice: In the 18th century, Venice was perhaps the most elegant city in Europe, with great influence on art, literature and architecture.  ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
