The Venetians attach great importance to the festival. In order to thank the Virgin for their rescue, a pontoon will be built between the Grand Canal and the Santa Maria della Salute for worship and carnival.

 

This may be one of the least "sightseeing" in the Venice festival, it evokes strong religious feelings of the city residents. Thousands of residents will also visit the main altar of the Notre Dame Cathedral to thank them. People are used to eating Castradina, a traditional dish based on lamb.
